Addiction? I will call it obsession.

Ana Martín- Sacristán Gandía.  This is my name. I know what you are thinking right now. She is not american. Such a long last name and so many accents right?  Guess it. Come on 5 more seconds. I am from Spain and I am 20 years old. Why am I in USA? Well, America is a country that loves every single sport and support athletes. As you can imagine I am an athlete. I am on the track team and I am a long jumper. Why am I in Akron? I guess I could go to California or Texas! But hey, I am in Akron enjoying this amazing weather because this University gave me the opportunity of study and practice at the same time. Thing that I cannot do back home. And...it's what I am doing so far. I am a Middle Level Education major. My other passion, and I mean my other half, is track & field. I have been practicing this sport since I was six years old. Thanks to this amazing sport and to more events in my life, I could realize that I want to be teacher. My coach taught me so many things and I feel like I need to share these "secret" ideas with others and help them.

To share is something that all of us need to do in some way or another. I need to share my knowledge with my teammates as well as my dad shares his love with my mom. But recently,  the word "share" is attached to "social media". We need to share our lifes in social media. To share is a word that surround us all the time. But I am going to focus in "we need to share our lifes in social media".
The problem here is not the "social media". The problem is the "need" to share what is going on in our lives every second, minute, hour...Why do we need to show that we are so cool? I guess we are a society of idiots. I repeat, WE. In my case, I share with everyone almost everything I do. Do I need to do it? Sadly the answer is yes. My excuse is that I am far from home so I like to show to my friends how I am living this american dream. I lie to myself. I have Instagram, twiter and Facebook.
Regarding the article, I agree with the author in every single point. First of all he claims that we are under peer pressure constantly. I cannot agree more with him since I made Instagram six weeks ago because of my friends. My roommates told me that everybody here (America) has one. I thought ok I am going to do one and if I do not like it, I will delete it. Today, I am still using this wonderful app that make pictures more than beautiful. Everyone in Instagram is cute, handsome, with a perfect body and with no "mistakes".

Moreover,  the author give us negative points about social media as well as positive points. I like when he says that in Instagram we do not need to worry about "tags" as we do in Facebook. Those awkward pictures do not exist in Instagram. Thirdly, the author says that there are 3 groups in Twiter. I consider myself on the third one. I do not complain about anyone as the first group do. I believe that it is better talk to the person face to face you have problem with instead of cover yourself behind a screen. You save time and excuses.

Regarding schools, I think that introducing technology to the field of education is a good idea as long students do not lose their time by playing games in class. Technology is something incredible that humans have created, so let's take advantage of that and let's use it properly.

Finally, reading this article made me realize how much we worry about what others think about us. We need to have feedback. We need them to follow us back and have more and more followers. Actually, out of a thousand people that follows me on Twiter, I just can count with one hand my real friends. The saddest thing about this topic  is that we spend more time fixing a picture than reading a simple book.

-I fear the day when the technology overlaps with our humanity. The world will only have a generation of idiots. - Albert Einstein
